ABOUT

Cairo Takeaway is much more than just takeaway. We are a little corner dine-in restaurant inspired by the traditions and flavours of Cairo, from the bustling streets to family homes across Egypt.

Our food pays homage to a cuisine enjoyed throughout ancient and modern times: hearty, soulful dishes built around plants, beans, and grains. Indigenous staples such as Ta’ameya (falafel), Fuul Medames, Koshari, and Molokheya are central to our menu. We also take great pride in preparing our proteins, with meat cooked over a charcoal pit at the heart of our kitchen, filling the air with rich aroma.

From its inception, Cairo Takeaway's intention has always been to evoke the spirit of the old city and offer an authentic, welcoming experience to all who visit.

Cairo Takeaway's story began in Newtown in 2016, but its roots reach back to when our family first arrived in Sydney from Egypt. This restaurant is dedicated to them, and it remains our joy to pass on their warmth and hospitality.

BOOKINGS

As we are small, we only operate as a walk-in venue. During peak dining periods, there may be a short wait however we hope that it is worth it.
